Hazrat Asma bint Abu Bakar

The grave of Syeda Asma bint-e-Abu bakar is in Makkah's holy graveyard JANNAT-UL-MUALLA

SAYYIDAH ASMA BINT ABU BAKR (radi Allahu anha):

She is the daughter of Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Siddique (radi Allahu anhu), sister of Sayyidah Ayesha (radi Allahu anha), wife of Sayyiduna Zubair bin al-Awam (radi Allahu anhu) & mother of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Zubair (radi Allahu anhu).

After the emigration, no Muhaajir family had an issue for quite some time. The Jews were happy over this & said that they had sealed the wombs of the Muhaajir women so that they may not have any issue. At this juncture, Sayyidah Asma bint Abu Bakr (radi Allahu anha) gave birth to a son who was named Sayyiduna Abdullah (radi Allahu anhu). She sent the infant to the Beloved Habeeb (sallallahu alaihi wasallam), who took him on his lap & put into his mouth a dry date after chewing it himself.

Sayyidah Asma's (radi Allahu anha) husband, Sayyiduna Zubair (radi Allahu anhu), was the cousin of Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam). He was the poorest of the poor among the Muhaajirun. She entered his house after the marriage, there was no maid-servant to do the housework. Sayyidah Asma (radi Allahu anha) not only performed the domestic chores, but also brought grass for the horse & date-seeds for the camels from outside. Seeing her toil Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (radi Allahu anhu) gave her a slave to look after the household.

After the Karbala tragedy in 63 AH, when the Yazid armies attacked Makkah-tul-Mukarramah, Sayyidah Asma (radi Allahu anha) gave full moral support to her son, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Zubair (radi Allahu anhu), in combatting the enemy.

Similarly, during the regime of Abdul Maalik bin Marwan, when Hajjjaj Bin Yousuf Thaqafi attacked Makkah-tul-Mukarramah, Sayyidah Asma stood by the side of her son, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Zubair (radi Allahu anhu).  Hajjjaj martyred Sayyiduna Abdullah (radi Allahu anhu) & hanged his body for public show. Hajjjaj also forced Sayyidah Asma (radi Allahu anha) to visit the dead body of her son. Sayyidah Asma (radi Allahu anha) went to her martyred son & addressed his dead body: "All horsemen have dismounted from their horses, but this horseman is still at the back of his horse." Then she addressed Hajjjaj: "O Hajjjaj! You have ruined the world of my son & my son has ruined your Hereafter."

Sayyidah Asma (radi Allahu anha) was buried in the graveyard of Makkah-tul-Mukarramah. Her son, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Zubair (radi Allahu anhu), also lay in rest by her side.
